Real Wedding Megan & Rishi in Chateau de Jalesnes

This summer, we had the pleasure of organizing M&R’s wedding—a vibrant, multicultural celebration that was both modern and colorful. It left us with so many beautiful memories! We couldn’t resist revisiting this amazing union on our blog. 😉

The Preparations

We had several months to plan the multicultural wedding of Megan, a Taiwanese bride, and Rishi, an Indian groom. To make things even more special, this was a destination wedding. Although the couple lives in New York, Rishi has a deep love for France from his time studying there.

Working with M&R was an absolute delight. Their positivity made the planning process smooth, and incredible ideas naturally surfaced as we discussed the details.

What we loved: M&R’s cultural backgrounds resulted in a truly stunning wedding! Both the bride’s and groom’s cultures were beautifully represented, ensuring each family felt connected. The colors, styles, materials, and visuals created a perfect harmony between Taiwan and India!

Inspirations

M&R envisioned an elegant and modern wedding that also honored their cultural heritage. To bring this to life, we chose a refined, floral decor that perfectly balanced both traditions.

The bride and groom didn’t just wear one outfit—they had five different looks! This gave us the chance to play with a diverse color palette throughout the wedding. Each key moment had its own unique decor, all while maintaining a cohesive theme. And I think the photos speak for themselves! 🙂

Ceremonies

M&R’s wedding was filled with meaningful traditions:

  • Tea Ceremony: In this intimate ritual, the couple is surrounded by close family. The bride and groom take turns standing before each family member, expressing personalized gratitude. After each heartfelt “speech,” they serve a cup of tea to their loved one, who drinks it and returns the cup along with a red envelope containing a gift (usually money).
  • Aeki Beki: This playful Hindu ritual involves the bride and groom searching for their wedding rings in a bowl of colored milk or rice. The one who finds the ring first is said to “win” and symbolically have the last word in the couple’s decisions. It’s a fun tradition meant to bring luck and happiness to the marriage.
  • Phera: The “Phera,” also known as “Saat Phera” or “Saptapadi,” is a crucial Hindu wedding ritual. The couple takes seven rounds around a sacred fire while reciting vows and prayers. Each round represents a specific vow, focusing on themes like love, mutual respect, understanding, prosperity, and a harmonious married life.

Entertainment

For their celebrations, M&R chose a variety of entertainment options:

  • Cocktail Bar: The couple loves cocktails, so they decided to treat their guests to a cocktail bar. (And let’s be honest, it’s always a great idea!) They even considered creating signature cocktails just for the wedding!
  • Jazz Band: For their welcome dinner, Megan & Rishi opted for a jazz band to set the mood. Imagine this: cocktail dinner + jazz + a castle rooftop = an unforgettable experience!
  • Harpist: During their secular ceremony, M&R had a professional harpist play, adding a poetic and romantic touch to the atmosphere.
  • Live Music Band: While bands are often seen at cocktail parties or dance floors, this time, we enjoyed a full concert inside the Chapel of the Château de Jalesnes!
